A commission from Carl Rosman to write a 20-minute solo piece for basset clarinet…

This is a slow burner, to say the least. Now a year in the making and it is back to square one. Writing a string quartet was challenging; writing two at the same time was especially tricky (2017/8). But the task of writing a significant chunk of solo material for someone who is not only an incredible musician but a dear friend, is like running a marathon with a cup of tea in hand. Each spill, another idea lost. Of course the aim is to finish the race before the tea runs out.
